How do you sell e-books online?
This is a question with two different answers because we need to understandselling e-books can be of two types.
1) Selling a e-book that you yourself wrote
2) Selling e-books that you got the PLR of.
Also you can giveaway free e-books and also sell them for a higher amount.
Normally I recommend starters to sell their products for $1. This might seem bad at first, but it's really not. If your readers like the content they will go ahead and buy more e-books even the ones listed at higher prices.
We will discuss both of the situations in great detail.
Selling your own e-book:
Ok....so you've done all the hard work and research and finally compiled a e-book on suppose say Home Decor ideas or Pet Care or anything else. Now you've got to earn the big bucks through your work. Oftentimes this earning process gets troublesome and requires a lot more perseverance than writing the book itself.
No matter how good your book may be, unless and until you earn the big bucks what good is it for?
( I think we all can agree to the statement that apart from educating our readers we also want to earn something from our work, otherwise we would we get the money to sustain our lives? )
- Offline Marketing
One way to sell your e-book would be by leaving the comforts of your sofa or bed at home and venture out into the real-world and start promoting your e-book individually to everyone around you see and meet. This process often takes a long time to show groundbreaking results and is not the general preference of most people, especially if you're crowd afraid or simply just an introvert.
- Digital Marketing
There are several sites and apps which can be used for large scale promotion of your product. These are of two types again:
Paid Promotions and Free Promotion.
In paid promotion, generally people use some advertising company e.g. Good Adsense or Propeller Ads; or they use social media e.g. Instagram or Facebook.
If you want to advertise via ad-networks then it's very simple to sign up for Google Ad-Services or some other trusted source.
Promotion via social media generally consists of paying a highly followed influential person to promote your site/product/content or by directly paying the social media app for promotions.
In free promotion, results may turn up well but oftentimes they don't largely affect the sales of your e-book. However, there are trusted sites which are unbiased or do free promotion. The ways to share your e-book are discussed below:
1) Creating a Infographic
Using the Canva App you can create the best infographics and promote your site in various social media.
From writing a resume to designing a logo for your website: from posting a Instagram story to making a Pinterest Graphic. There are many possibilities this app can make true.
The procedure is really easy. Log into your Canva Account and select your background size. (Different for different social media.)
Choose from existing templates or make your own! You can also apply to the CanvaPro for more benefits. Pro members get unlimited access to ready-made professional looking templates for free.
2) Sharing on Pinterest
You can share your infographic you just made on Pinterest and link your URL to your e-book or website where it is hosted. This way visitors will get attracted to your site and you'll gain organic traffic as well as buyers.
3) Applying enormous discounts.
After you got the people to view your e-book now it's time to see it. Normally what people do is they take a e-book and price it at say $10. Now if your viewer is new to your content he will now get the motivation to buy your e-book. That's why starters use a technique I call 'False Pricing' or 'The $1 Method'.
In this method you sell a product for $1.
However, you don't just sell it for $1. You show that the original price of your e-book was $17 but for a limited time you are selling it for $1. This is how most products on Amazon or Ebay or any other e-commerce website gets sold.
When the viewer sees that flat 70% or 80% discount, they are more likely to buy your e-book.
5) Telling your Friends to Share.
Last but not the least, if you are a person who has a lot of friends why not leverage that? You need to convince your friends to spread this e-book to all their friends and in turn their friends must share it to their friends as well. This creates a network of people sharing your product and a buzz gets created about your content.
Selling a e-book of which you got the PLR rights to:
This might sound a little tricky but honestly speaking it isn't. PLR stands for Private Labels Right. There are many people who just giveaway their work. That is to say, they write content but that doesn't mean they sell it or put copyrights in it. They allow anyone to be the owner of that piece of content. So basically what it means is that once you got the PLR Rights to any product you are virtually it's owner and you are free to take the work, modify it and sell it.
Now there are a few sites which have such ebooks listed:
You can get the ebook and then promote it via social media apps and sell it. Oftentimes these come along with video content as well so you can sell the video to the whole ebook for maybe $5 and the ebook itself at $1 and get some amount of profit.
